It is well known for its thoroughbred industry, dairy farming heritage, and historic Firth Tower Museum.

Centrally situated, Matamata offers a range of walking and tramping options, golf courses, and an extensive selection of Cafés.

Matamata is the perfect place to stop on your drive from Auckland to Rotorua. Rotorua is just one hour away and is the center of Maori culture and geothermal activity. It’s also a quick 45 minute drive to the popular beach town of Tauranga.
